How to Register with Income tax department for e-filing

Any Assessee who has taxable income of Rs. 5, 00,000 & above has to mandatory e-file tax return. It is easy to register on the income tax website. The registration process is user-friendly and takes minimal time. The following steps need to be followed:

Log on to the Income Tax Department’s website (incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) meant for filing tax returns online. Login using your Permanent Account Number (PAN), this will be your user ID.  For new Registration, click on ‘Register now’ on the right hand side of the screen on the Income tax website. When you click on it you get the below screen.

After selecting the user type, you will get a field where in you need to fill in your PAN number, date of Birth or date of incorporation as applicable.

You need to fill in all the details in the registration form to get registered.

After Registering with Income Tax Department you can check the following details:

  • Online filing of Income Tax Return
  • Download Past Filed Income Tax Returns (Online Filed Only)
  • Income Tax Return Processing Status
  • Income Tax Return Processing Status
  • Income Tax Refund Status
  • Income Tax Demand Status
  • Income Tax Refund Reissue Request
  • Current Postal Address of the Assessee
  • PAN Card Details
