To give more authenticity to Aadhaar card Number Government of India has now made compulsory for salaried employees in organized sector to provide their Aadhaar card number for taking benefits under the Employee Provident Fund Schemes (EPF scheme) which is being operated by Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). It will also be compulsory for new members to submit their Aadhaar card number as a part of the KYC (Know Your Customer) verification from March 1, 2013. The Aadhaar card number Compulsory for all the new members of the Employees provident Fund Organization. Aadhaar card is a 12-digit individual Identification number or national identification number which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on behalf of Government of India.
In case an employee does not have the Aadhaar number, the employer can issue an Enrolment Id (EID) as per the guidelines of the body. The EID number would be converted into Aadhaar card number later on. The EPFO also seek the Aadhaar card numbers of its pensioners through the banks. And EPFO also improve the services by the use of the Aadhaar card. The pensioners can submit their Aadhaar card either to their pension paying branch of the bank or the Employees provident fund organization office of your district or of your city.
Employees provident fund organization also taking the decision related to the replacing member’s account number with the Aadhaar card number to avoid the problems or the inconvenience to those who had to apply for the transfer of the provident fund money to the new account with the new employer. Employees provident fund organization also working towards creating a central database where all members would have a unique account number and would not require transferring the Provident fund money or accounts to another one in the event of changing job also. Employees provident fund organization can recently working on the digitalized its database of regional officers and launched its e-passbook service where subscribers can access their account online from anywhere or any place of the India. Employees Provident fund Organization also working towards integrating the data in the digital data base and bring them together at one place or at the one system. By which subscribers or the employee can see his all data at one place only or can see the data at the online. Mainly this will help the construction workers, who often change their jobs or the contractors.
Before the circular come the central government has taken the decision to link EPFO scheme based provident fund, pension Scheme and other benefits with the direct cash transfer scheme. Under this Aadhaar card number will be necessary to take out provident fund and pension money. The Aadhaar card number has been made optional for the present members but it can be compulsory later in the future. This decision surprise so many people in the country because there is only 25 crore people have issued Aadhaar card numbers in the country and most of the people are still waiting to receive their Aadhaar card even after 6 to 12 months.
